The Felbertauern is one of Austria’s most traditional and diverse ice climbing areas.Between Matrei in East Tyrol and Mittersill, frozen waterfalls, gullies, and mixed linesoffer a stunning variety of routes – from accessible beginner climbs to long, alpine classics.


Accompanied by a certified mountain and ice climbing guide from MT Experts, you’ll experience the fascination of climbing on real ice – safely guided,individually planned, and perfectly adapted to your experience level and the current conditions.


Region & Character


The Felbertauern connects Salzburg with East Tyrol and divides into two main sectors –the North Portal (Salzburg side) and South Portal (Tyrolean side).Both sides provide excellent access, reliable ice conditions, and routes of every grade and style.
