Climbing the Hoher Dachstein (2,995 m) via the Normal Route is one of the classic alpine tours in Austria and an ideal introduction to high-alpine mountaineering. Accompanied by a state-certified mountain guide from MT Experts, you will reach the summit safely and professionally via glaciers, easy rock sections and secured passages.
The Dachstein Normal Route combines glacier travel, light rock scrambling and impressive high-alpine scenery. While technically moderate, the tour requires surefootedness, a head for heights and good basic fitness – making it perfect for motivated beginners and first-time glacier climbers guided by a professional.

Tour Itinerary – Dachstein Normal Route
The meeting point is usually at the Dachstein cable car mountain station (Hunerkogel). After a thorough equipment check and an introduction to glacier techniques and rope handling, we start our ascent across the Dachstein Glacier.
The route leads across the glacier plateau, followed by secured sections and easy rock passages as we approach the summit area. From the summit of Hoher Dachstein (2,995 m), you can enjoy panoramic views of the Dachstein massif, the Salzkammergut region and the surrounding alpine landscape. The descent follows the same route back to the cable car.
