Climbing the Matterhorn (4,478 m) is one of the greatest classics in alpinism and a lifelong dream for many mountaineers. Together with a state-certified mountain and ski guide from MT Experts, you will ascend the Matterhorn via the Hörnli Ridge, the classic normal route to the summit.
The Hörnli Ridge offers continuous exposed ridge climbing, steep rock sections, fixed rope passages and demanding high-alpine terrain. This route requires excellent fitness, surefootedness, climbing experience and strong mental focus. With professional guiding, precise timing and individual support, we maximise safety and the chances of a successful summit.

Tour Itinerary – Matterhorn Ascent in 2 Days
Day 1 – Ascent to the Hörnli Hut
Meeting point is in Zermatt in the early afternoon. Together we take the cable car to Schwarzsee and hike from there up to the Hörnli Hut (3,260 m). After settling in at the hut, we carry out a full equipment check, followed by a detailed tour briefing and preparation for summit day.

Day 2 – Summit Ascent via the Hörnli Ridge
We start very early in the morning. Guided by headlamp, we climb along the classic Hörnli Ridge, ascending exposed rock ridges and steep sections towards the summit. The key passages are graded UIAA II–III and require efficient, confident movement in alpine terrain.
At the summit of the Matterhorn (4,478 m), you will enjoy an unforgettable moment and breathtaking views over the Alps. The descent follows the same route back to the Hörnli Hut and continues down to Schwarzsee.

Requirements & Prerequisites
The Matterhorn ascent is a highly demanding alpine tour and is suitable only for experienced mountaineers:
Excellent physical fitness for long, high-alpine days
Confident rock climbing up to UIAA grade III
Absolute surefootedness and a head for heights
Experience using crampons, rope and fixed rope sections
Good acclimatisation to high altitude
This tour is not suitable for beginners and requires solid alpine experience.
