Itinerary – 2-day North Face adventure

Day 1 – Ascent to the Glockner bivouac

Meeting point at 09:00 am in Fusch an der Grossglocknerstraße.From there, we drive together to the Franz-Josefs-Höhe and start the ascent to the high alpine Glockner bivouac, dramatically located above the Pasterze glacier.Depending on snow and ice conditions, the approach may also take place from the southern side.

• Hiking time: approx. 3 hours

• Elevation gain: approx. 900 m

Day 2 – Mayerlrampe & Grossglockner summit (3,798 m)

We begin the climb in the early morning darkness and approach the base of the Mayerlrampe.The technically varied route through the North Face leads directly to the summit of the Grossglockner. After enjoying the view from Austria’s highest point, we descend via the Adlersruhe and the Normal Route back to the Franz-Josefs-Höhe.

• Ascent: approx. 600 m

• Descent: approx. 1,700 m
