The Ötztal Ski Traverse, also known as the Venter Round, is one of the most famous and beautiful ski traverses in the Eastern Alps.In five unforgettable days, it leads you through the high-alpine glacier world of the Ötztal Alps –from the mountain village of Vent to classic summits such as the Similaun (3,606 m), the Weißkugel (3,739 m),and the Wildspitze (3,772 m), the highest peak in Tyrol.
Each day offers new routes, cozy mountain huts, and long, rewarding descents across wide firn slopes. With a certified mountain and ski guide, you’ll experience this legendary ski traverse safely, professionally, and with plenty of time to enjoy the unique beauty of the Ötztal glaciers.

Itinerary – 5 Days Ötztal Ski Traverse (Venter Round)
Day 1 – Ascent to the Similaun Hut (3,019 m)
Meeting point at 09:00 a.m. in the mountaineering village of Vent (1,900 m). The first ascent leads through the peaceful Niedertal Valley to the Similaun Hut (3,019 m).Dinner and relaxed briefing on the hut.
Ascent 1,100 m Duration approx. 5 h
Day 2 – Similaun (3,606 m) & Bellavista Hut (2,864 m)
Early morning ascent over the Niederjoch Glacier to the ski depot, then on foot along the west ridge to the summit of the Similaun. Descent past the famous Ötzi discovery site at the Tisenjoch and across the Hauslabjoch (3,208 m)to the panoramic Bellavista Hut (2,864 m).

Day 3 – Weißkugel (3,739 m) & Hochjoch Hospiz (2,413 m)
A true ski touring classic!Over the wide Hintereis Glacier we reach the Hintereisjoch (3,460 m). From there, a short climb on foot leads via the south ridge to the summit of the Weißkugel,one of Tyrol’s most impressive viewpoints.After a long and enjoyable descent, we arrive at the Hochjoch Hospiz (2,413 m).

Day 4 – Fluchtkogel (3,500 m) & Vernagt Hut (2,755 m)
Ascent via the Kesselwand Glacier to the Oberes Guslarjoch (3,361 m) and further to the Fluchtkogel (3,500 m). This panoramic summit offers breathtaking views across the Ötztal glacier world. Descent to the Vernagt Hut (2,755 m).

Day 5 – Wildspitze (3,772 m) – Top of Tyrol
The grand finale of the Ötztal Ski Traverse!We ascend via the Vernagt Glacier to the Brochkogeljoch (3,423 m)and on to the Wildspitze (3,772 m), Tyrol’s highest summit.After a spectacular panoramic view, we enjoy a long descent past the Breslauer Hut and along the ski runs back to Vent. Farewell around 2:00 p.m.
