Itinerary
Ascent via the Hocharn Glacier
The tour begins at the Lenzanger car park above Kolm-Saigurn in the Rauris Valley.We first follow the forest road for about 900 m towards Kolm-Saigurn,then cross the bridge marked Lacheggklamm/Hocharn.From here, the route leads southwest through the Lachegg Gully,gently rising at first, then steeper across a series of ridges and gullies.Continuing in a wide arc below the Hoher Sonnblick and Pilatus Glacier,we reach a broad basin below the Goldzechkopf (≈ 2,290 m).
From here, we ascend through a steepening hollow or along the ridgeto reach the expansive Hocharn Glacier (≈ 2,860 m).After crossing the final steep slope, we gain the summit ridge andclimb the last few metres on foot along the short southern ridgeto the broad summit plateau with its simple wooden cross.
Ascent: 1,350 vertical metres
Distance: approx. 7 km
Duration: 4 – 5 hours
Descent
The descent follows the ascent route,but the open terrain offers plenty of room for variations.In the lower section, you can ski directly down to Kolm-Saigurn and follow the road back to the starting point.
