Itinerary

Start – Pitztal Glacier

Meeting point at the Pitztal Glacier cable car base station.After a short equipment check – safety first! – we take the lift up to the Mittelberg cable car top station.From there, we ski slightly downhill to the Mittelbergjoch (3,166 m).

Ascent to the Wildspitze

About 90 vertical metres lower, we put on our skins on the Taschachferner glacier.Depending on the conditions, we ascend with or without a rope over gently undulating glacier terrainsurrounded by impressive icefalls and crevasses until we reach the ski depot at about 3,680 m.From here, the final climb begins: with crampons and rope, we follow the rocky summit ridge(graded I+ UIAA) to the summit cross of the Wildspitze (3,768 m).At the top, we are rewarded with a stunning 360° panorama over the Ötztal Alps, Ortler and Dolomites.

Descent – 2,000 m of Pure Skiing Pleasure

We descend the same route back to the ski depot.Then it’s time to put on the skis and enjoy the 2,000-metre spring snow descentdown the Taschachferner glacier all the way to the valley at Mittelberg.Depending on snow conditions and group level, the best line is chosen on-site.
